<< Virginia's Profit >>

In reading Mrs. Dalloway, and knowing the history of Virgina Woolf's mental health condition, I have found the secret she wanted everyone to know.

This secret is something that should be observed by every person, no matter what state his/her mind is in.

Virginia writes in code. Her code containing metaphors and similes, and the deepest of semantic sewing. In this code, she has in several periods, described the here and now, what we call the moment in recognition.

She writes of the moment because this is the only thing dear to her mind. Please remember, she was, or was presumed to be schizophrenic or schizoaffective. When one is burdened with such an illness, her thoughts are not complete, her mind a labyrinth of different concepts, and understanding the real world becomes as slippery as soap.

It is then when reality presents its face to the schitzophrenic, a moment of clarity, and this moment is taken in with great detail and warmth. These small increments of time allow simplicity. It was Virginia's goal to quiet the voices, and drown the theories. She searched the moment like fresh air in a smoky building.

So please take this wisdom, and remember the moment. The moment in which surrounds you at this very second. Remember it, for it may be the only thing you have.
